I was taught a thing one way but I preferred to do it
another way because it was not correct. I was gratified when a
person saw me doing an act of charity towards a girl. I
presumed that a person held me in high esteem and spoke
well of me. 3.

Monday 31

I considered myself a fervent person. I excused myself
on two occasions. I took the place of honour of my own
accord, on my visit to a sick person, instead of leaving it for my
companion. I said a few words with feigned humility. 4.
