Ranaghat: The «Holy Child Home», along with the NGO «Manovik Ranaghat», organized a day’s programme for the children of the brick factory workers of Anulia and Hijulli, who are migrants from Jharkhand or Odisha.

Since the children do not have documents, the schools refuse to admit them and practically they are left to themselves because their parents work hard until evening. On the day in which in Bengal we celebrate the valiant freedom fighter Netajii, we decided to make it memorable for these children, bereft of their childhood privileges, with good food, games and surprise gifts. All of them enjoyed and participated actively. With wide-open eyes and beaming faces, they listened to the anecdotes of Netajii’s life, narrated in simple language. We organised spontaneous entertainment programme with songs, dances and poems. The children of «Holy Child Home» mingled with them easily and they were free to take the food prepared in the stalls that provided a variety of delicacies. The innocent enjoyment of these children was really heartwarming to the audience. The sisters then started to make friends with their parents through visits, talks and short prayer sessions.

Truly, I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me (Mt 25:40) is the Word that pushes us and sustains us.
