Prashantha Nilayam is a «Home for the aged» and an institution for the benefit of the poor, rejected and unwanted elderly. They are given food, shelter, clothes and medicines, regardless of their religion or caste. The sisters render a generous and tireless service to these inmates and to the destitute persons of the nearby localities. The words of St Teresa of Calcutta: As long as our mission remains committed to the poorest of the poor the work will prosper, became true for the sisters of Bejinapally.

This year when India celebrated its 75th Independence Day, the state government of Telangana  and Andhra Pradesh (the two states where the religious province of Secunderabad has most of its communities) recognized the services rendered by various institutions. On 20 August, our sisters received the award «The Best Caretaker» by the District Collector at Nagarkurnool; the care the sisters rendered to the elderly inmates is highly appreciated. Every month the Government officials visit the «Home for the aged» to inform themselves and spend some time with the elderly; they are edified and grateful for the service rendered by our sisters with untiring dedication. Their care expresses God’s merciful love, which responds to our Charism as stated in the Rule of Life: our charity accordingly is to be directed to the sick, the aged and those rejected by society (Cs 5).
