In the last days of the General Chapter, the Sisters in Chapter concentrated on elaborating together the directions, the orientations that will have to guide the Institute in the coming years. On the evening of June 23, the concluding prayer was streamed: “So that they may have life … and have it in abundance” prepared by the Bangladeshi sisters. At the end of the prayer, each sister goes to the altar to receive some seeds from Mother Venita’s hands: it is a symbolic gesture that indicates each one’s willingness to collaborate in the Redrawing process, educating us to look at every situation with the eyes of women of faith, willing to open ourselves to what God asks of us, going beyond “what has always been done”.
On the morning of June 24, Mother Venita’s concluding words helped us to re-read the path that the Lord has made us travel during these 50 days of the Chapter and to give thanks for what the Spirit has done. Mother Venita’s programmatic motto “Embraced by Mercy, to express His compassion” spurs us and encourages us to live this experience within the encounter with the sisters and the people with whom we share life.
