SECUNDERABAD: THE «SPIRITUAL FRATERNITY» RENEWS ITS COMMITMENT

The 12th of November was a special day for the members of the «Spiritual Fraternity of saints Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa» who gathered at «St Francis Junior College» to renew their commitment. The members received a booklet «A plan for spiritual holiness» reprinted to mark the 190th year of the foundation of the Institute; it is a practical tool to be used in day-to-day life by the members who wish to live a genuine Christian life. In preparation for the ceremony, to which a large number of sisters were present, Sr. Lily Daniel invited the group to reflect on  the meaning and magnitude of their commitment, which demands a conscious and free decision to live purposefully and prayerfully. In the introduction to the Mass, Mrs Nirmala Nair reminded the members of the group to rekindle the gift of God within themselves (cf. 2Tim 1:6) and strive to be transformed by the renewing of their minds (cf. Rom 12:2). In the homily, Fr Ravi Shekhar SJ underlined that the «Spiritual Fraternity» has been inspired and motivated by the example of Bartolomea and Vincenza to live in a simple, merciful and compassionate way, to be at the service to the poorest of the poor. During the renewal of the commitment, twenty one members pronounced the promise, holding aloft their lighted candles and during the offertory they carried candles, fruit, bread and wine to the altar. The service was concluded with a vote of thanks addressed by Mrs Claudine Franswah. Mrs Balaiah and Mrs Samantha Ross sponsored the dinner which was a moment of relaxation and fraternal communion.
