the night to honour the beloved Bambina and keep her
company for an hour. If my stomach ache is worse than usual,
I beg you to let me say the prayers sitting up in bed. The
fervent M. Conti asks you the same permission through me.
Reverend Father, you treated my dear St Aloysius too
badly, yesterday, and I am afraid he may have been a bit
displeased with you. To make peace with Him, you must think
of something that he will appreciate. I cannot help thinking that
St Aloysius will be really pleased if you could see what you
can do for the young man Gennari so that, if God is truly
calling him to the priesthood, he may give serious thought to it.
St Aloysius is watching over him from heaven and you,
Reverend Father, will support him here on earth, for I do hope
God has special designs over him. Thank God the members of
the Sodality of St Aloysius are not leaving Lovere till after the
middle of next week, and so we are holding a Meeting on

Wednesday. If you can spare a moment for us, we shall be
waiting for you. St Aloysius will reward you for it.
Forgive my boldness. I commend myself to your kind
