She apologizes - She urges her to keep company to Jesus in his Passion

Dearest Sister in Jesus Christ,
Lovere, 9 March 1826.

What shall I say to you? I must apologize for my delay in
writing. In your kindness forgive me this time as well. If you
have to fulfil your Easter obligations, you must be on peaceful
terms with Bortolamea who excels in breaking her word. I do
like this with everyone. I make a thousand promises and never
keep one. Sometimes they tell me I am like my Confessor, but
he does it out of humility, while I do it out of laziness. However
it may be, I am able to make my dear Mariannina practise

patience, and in Heaven she will be rewarded for that too. Oh
well, let us pass on to other things.
Dear Sister, what shall we do for Jesus? Could we have
the heart to forsake him while he weeps and grieves? That
would be most unbecoming of us! Let us remain close to the
adorable Cross; let us love it, kiss it and do our best to carry it
gladly.
