HAIL TO JESUS CRUCIFIED

My dear Friend,

Lovere, 9 March1826.

As First of all I must apologize most sincerely. My
laziness along with a slight illness have caused this long delay
in answering your most welcome letter. Forgive me this time,
too. In future I promise I will faithfully write to you more
frequently and answer all your letters more promptly.
Not to let you remain anxious about my rampinello for
knitting gloves I assure you I have it with me, a long time
since. Let it not worry you. It’s nothing.
Dear friend, what shall we do for Heaven? I already seem
to see you running speedily towards that blessed Homeland,
yearning for it and eagerly looking forward to enter it! ... And if I
too will be fortunate enough to reach it, how happy we shall be
to find ourselves united at last to our most gentle Spouse, in
