FOREWORD
TO THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION : “DEVOTIONAL PRACTICES”

The text “DEVOTIONAL PRACTICES” completes the
translation in English of the SCRITTI SPIRITUALI DELLA VEN.
MARIA BARTOLOMEA CAPITANIO (SPIRITUAL WRITINGS OF VEN.
MARIA BARTOLOMEA CAPITANIO), collected by Mazza in 1904
and organized by him in three volumes, among which “Pratiche
di Pietà” is indicated as second.
As it is said in the Foreword to the Vol. III, the translation of the
Writings was willed and urged by the general governance of the
Institute to ensure the English-speaking members a direct reading
and as much as possible a faithful one. It was entrusted to Sr.
Maximilla Saydon, who had completed it in the course of time
with patient dedication. It was then attentively reviewed in Italy
and in India by other sisters, who have foreseen to the necessary
changes, and was revised by the Editing offices of Generalate.
In 2016, we were able to bring about the publication of volume
III “NOTES AND PRACTICES OF LIFE-OF-PERFECTION” and,
in 2018, volume I “LETTERS”, both by Brilliant Printers of
Bangalore – INDIA.
“DEVOTIONAL PRACTICES” also has had the same
process, has the same graphic layout of the printed volumes and
the page numbering corresponding to the original in Italian (cf.
Foreword vol. III and I). However, unlike the two precedent volumes,
this is not published, but made available only in the Institute’s Website,
to which the persons interested can have easy access. Few paper
copies are printed for only documentation purposes.
