LECCO-GERMANEDO: FESTIVAL OF COLOURS IN THE PARK

The «Festival of colours in the park», an event of the project «Taking care of the common good 2018», was promoted by the municipality of Lecco. It was initiated with the Mass and was accompanied by the choir «San Lorenzo di Ballabio». It was followed by the inauguration of the installation of «yarn bombing» (a kind of graffiti with coloured knitted patches, doilies and intertwined yarns) made by the inmates of the «Reunited Airoldi-Muzzi Institutes» during the activities of «Let’s colour the park» project. The musical notes of «Giovanni Brivio Band» of Rancio and of the «Folkloritic Group Renzo and Lucia with Firlinfeu» resounded everywhere. Refreshments followed. Thanks to the crafts ability requested, the people involved have had the opportunity to enhance and stimulate their motor skills and to keep their memory exercised. Working in company has encouraged socialization and created a climate of collaboration and exchange of knowledge among volunteers, family members, sisters and some employees, who are creative and skilled at work. Young people were also involved, in particular the youth centre of the parish of Olate, «Giglio» centre of Pescarenico and a class of the «Medardo Rosso artistic high school», who have studied the plan for the installation of the works and have elaborated a series of design drawings, which have been exhibited in the animation room. The event ended with a concert, choirs and orchestra, in the Institution’s Church with the Agostino chorus of «Holy Family» parish of Pascolo, the choral «S. Maria Assunta in Celana» and the «Little Big Orchestra», under the direction of Damiano Bonanomi. Finally, the Association Friends and Supporters of the Institution offered ice cream to everyone. The invitation was extended to all the citizens who participated in great numbers. The sisters went there earlier to welcome the various groups, to offer company to the inmates who were alone, those in wheelchairs and not, encouraging them to sing enthusiastically songs of their youth. The charity of the small gestures, profused during the day, was able to delight the little and the big, the young and the old, the healthy and the sick. We thank the Lord who gives us the joy of love for the least; in this periphery of suffering we experience his presence, a source of light and peace for our journey together.
