Saturday, 21 October, was a unique day for the teenagers of King City, the parishes of Gonzales and Soledad, where Sr. Rosangela Filippini, Sr. Pauline Thomas and Sr. Theresita Crasta are in pastoral ministry. The 350 students, who are preparing for the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation, have done a day of spiritual retreat on the theme «missionary-disciples»; the slogan «God is good, all the time; all the time, God is good» echoed everywhere and in all hearts. The programme included talks based on the Word of God, testimonies of some persons who have already encountered Christ, reception of the sacrament of Confession, and the Holy Hour. A simple play, conducted by the team of animators, has inspired the youth to be wise, prompt and creative in proclaiming Christ by their life in the present society. The summit of the program was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and the ‘mandate’ to live for Christ and to give Christ to all the persons they meet in their daily life.

It was an event that brought the three parishes together to collaborate: many volunteered to meet the various needs of the day: catechists, parents of the students, already members of other associations in their parishes, looked after the safety measures and prepared and served food from breakfast to the refreshment at evening. The YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association), an organization working for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility at Soledad, have offered the facilities of their Auditorium free-of-cost for the meeting.

We praise and thank God who has united us in the mission of forming the youth, the future of the Church and of society: it was a real witness of communion!
